John Fitzgerald is an invested public servant who advocates for Michigan's hardworking families. John was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2022, and he has advocated for crucial topics such as workers' rights, healthcare accessibility, and decent education for everybody. John and his wife Kellie, who grew up in Lansing and graduated from Michigan State University, relocated to West Michigan in 2014 and soon became involved in their community. His leadership path began in 2020, when he was elected to the Wyoming City Council, where he worked on infrastructure improvements, public safety, and tax cuts. As a state representative, John now serves as head of the Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee and has been important in getting approximately $70 million in budget grants to aid District 83.
John's legislative accomplishments include proposing laws to improve school safety through defibrillator installations and staff training, as well as increasing healthcare access, improving affordable housing, and investing in West Michigan's infrastructure. John is a strong champion for reproductive freedom, gun safety, and school reform, and he advocates for policies that safeguard Michigan's families and future generations. Outside of work in Lansing, John likes spending time with his wife and daughter, reading American history, and discovering Michigan's natural wonders. With a goal of making Michigan the ideal location to raise a family, John is dedicated to creating a better, more prosperous community for everyone.
