Running for: General Assemble District 21
Andrew Macurdy is running for the New Jersey General Assembly in the 21st Legislative District. A Democrat and former federal and state prosecutor, he advanced from the June 10, 2025, Democratic primary and now heads into the November 4 general election. Raised in New Jersey, Macurdy is a Harvard Law graduate who clerked for two federal judges and later served in Newark, Jersey City, and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office. He gained statewide attention for creating "ARRIVE Together," an innovative crisis response program pairing mental health specialists with law enforcement officers to improve emergency responses across Union County and beyond.
A father of two and longtime resident of Summit, Macurdy emphasizes public safety, affordability, and infrastructure in his campaign. With personal experience as a commuter on NJ Transit, he advocates for reliable transit services, universal and affordable childcare, and pragmatic gun-violence prevention laws. He’s received endorsements from the College Democrats of New Jersey, Gun Sense Voter, and several county Democratic organizations . During his campaign kickoff at Summit's Bull N Bear Brewery, he highlighted the importance of practical, effective governance and raised $94,000 in just six weeks, signaling strong grassroots momentum.
