Running for: Ohio State Supreme Court

If there’s one thing about Justice Jennifer Bruner, it’s that she does not suffer from a lack of experience. Justice Brunner worked for 17 years in private law practice, followed by six years as a state appeals court judge on the Tenth District Court of Appeals, and five on the Franklin County Common Pleas Court. In 2006, she was elected Ohio’s first Secretary of State which she held for four years, and currently serves as Ohio Supreme Court Justice.

As a Springfield, Ohio native, Justice Brunner has witnessed firsthand the beauty of Ohio’s rich history and diverse population. For eight years, Justice Brunner served as a member on the board of advisors for an endowment fund created for Ohio’s LGBTQIA+ community, and six years on the board of the Mental Health America of Franklin County, an organization dedicated to mental health advocacy and social issues. Justice Brunner is running to become Ohio's 11th Chief Justice, and vows to protect the well-being of Ohio’s citizens because, in all her years of public service, she has learned the power that the courts hold and just how much good they can do.

Judge Terri Jamison is seeking election to the Ohio Supreme Court to ensure that equal justice isn’t just a possibility but a certainty for all Ohioans. Jamison later opened her own law office before working at the Supreme Court of the United States in 2007. Jamison then began a run in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas in 2012 until she was elected to the Tenth District Court of Appeals in 2020.

Over the span of her career, Judge Jamison has worked to prove that courts belong to the people, therefore each and every person deserves to be treated as such. Judge Marilyn Zayas knows what it means to persist in the face of adversity. Born in Harlem, New York to a seamstress and printer, Judge Zayas worked hard to be able to attend college for a degree in Computer Science. In 1994 however, Zayas made the difficult decision to leave her career in technology and pursue her dreams of becoming a lawyer.

Since then, Judge Zayas has made her mark in the law circuit by becoming the first Latina judge elected to an Ohio Court of Appeals, and as a strong advocate for accessibility and student outreach in law. Judge Zayas founded “Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders,” a program for Ohio students of all ages to visit the Court of Appeals and learn about law.

Judge Zayas’ contributions to the Ohio community have been recognized by Good Morning America, City of Cincinnati City Council, University of Cincinnati College of Law, and the Ohio Commission of Hispanic and Latino Affairs among others.
